runforribbons 2014

Sandhills Race Series is off to the races with the 5th annual Run for the Ribbons at the Carolina Horse Park (2814 Montrose Road, Raeford, NC 28376) on April 5.  This event benefits The Foundation of FirstHealth’s Cancer CARE Fund.  The CARE Fund has distributed over $800,000 since 2000 to local cancer patients and their families to help with costs associated with a cancer diagnosis.

The Run for the Ribbons is an all-day, family friendly event at the Carolina Horse Park.  Registrants in the 5k and 1k will receive a tee-shirt and general admission to the Stoneybrook Steeplechase beginning at 1:30 pm.  There will also be a Hawkins and Harkness hat contest, stick horse races, and children’s park activities which include a petting zoo, pony rides, and rock climbing wall.

Race Information

The 5k event begins and ends on the grassy racetrack and winds through the rolling hills of an eventing course; due to the terrain no pets, strollers, and bikes, will be allowed to ensure runner safety.  The 5k is a trail run with one water station along the route.  The 5k will begin at 9:00 am.

The Family Fun 1k travels for one loop around the steeplechase track, which amounts to 7/8 of a mile.  Again, due to the terrain, pets, strollers, and bikes will not be permitted.  The Family Fun 1k will begin at 10:30 am.
