Upcoming Race – Miles for Mira 5k Fun Run & Dog Walk

The 2013 Miles for Mira 5k Fun Run & Dog Walk will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 9:00 am. The race supports MIRA, whose mission is “to offer eligible blind children in the United States between the ages of 11-17 the opportunity to receive guide dogs free of charge, to provide targeted educational outreach, to promote public awareness, and, as we continue to grow, to offer support services to the adult population of blind people and their families.”

Race Information

This is a Sandhills Race Series Fall bonus event. It will take place at Sandhills Community College, 3395 Airport Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374. The course starts and finishes at the SCC Athletic Field and runs around the Southern Pines Reservoir. This will make the terrain mostly trail. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Early packet pickup will be Friday, October 18 from 8:00 am – noon, and 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Dempsey Student Center at Sandhills Community College. Packets may also be picked up on the day of the event from 7:30 am – 8:45 am. The race will start at 9:00 am, and an awards ceremony will follow at 10:00 am.

• Registration can be found online at active.com, or by downloading this form and mailing to: 112 N. Poplar Street, Aberdeen, NC 28315. You can also register the morning of the race from 8:00 am – 8:30 am.
• Registration fee is $25. Special rates of $18 are available for military members and their immediate family and for kid’s groups (must sign up as a group). Make checks payable to MIRA Foundation USA.
• Food and entertainment will be on site at this family friendly event!
