Upcoming Race – 5K Run To Be Drug Free and 1 Mile Kids Run
New to the Sandhills Race Series, the Run To Be Drug Free will be held on Saturday, November 2. The 5k race will start at 9:30 am and be preceded by a 1 mile kids run, starting at 9:00 am. The event will take place at Pinecrest High School (250 Voit Gilmore Lane Southern Pines, NC 28387) and benefits the Sandhills Teen Challenge. Sandhills Teen Challenge is a residential faith-based recovery program located in Carthage for men ages 18+ with a drug or alcohol problem.
Race Information
The Run To Be Drug Free is in it’s second year as an event, but it’s first year with SRS as a bonus event. The course will take place on roads near Pinecrest High. Check out the full course map here. The registration fee for the 5k race is $30, and the 1 mile kids run fee is $15. The kids run is for children 10 and under. An award ceremony will immediately follow the 5k, with the top 3 men and women overall, plus the top 3 men and women in each age group winning an award.

- You can register by visiting active.com or by printing this form and mailing (with a check) to: Sandhills Teen Challenge, PO Box 1701, Southern Pines, NC 28388.
- Online registration closes Thursday, Oct. 31 at midnight, but you will still be able to register for the race the day of. On-site registration will take place from 7:00 am – 9:00 am the morning of the event.
- Course records are listed at: for men – 18:36, and for women – 20:19, so keep that in mind if you’re looking to set a new record!
