2017 Reindeer Fun Run

Reindeer Fun Run

News Release
SOUTHERN PINES, NC – This year marks the Reindeer Fun Run’s 10th annual race. The event, which begins on Saturday, December 3, is the largest fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills. It is part of TeamGreen Charities, which donates 100 percent of the proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club. The race attracts a variety of walkers, runners of all levels, families and pets and stretches through the historic neighborhoods of Aberdeen and the surrounding areas.

The Reindeer Fun Run comprises of a 5k run/walk, a 12k, an Egg Nog Jog (a half mile run for kids 9 and under) and a Blitzen Bash (a holiday kickoff party). “It brings the entire community together to raise money for a great charity—all while having fun and being active,” said Kate Petsolt, the Reindeer Fun Run’s Founder and Director. “Everyone plays a part in the success of the event, which includes its sponsors, volunteers, vendors, runners and spectators. There will be several thousand people who make the event what it is.”

This year’s race is expected to have over 2,500 runners in attendance and raise over $50,000 in donations to the Boys and Girls Club. Since the first race in 2007, the Reindeer Fun Run has raised over $234,000 in donations. It will undoubtedly top the quarter million dollar mark this year. The Reindeer Fun Run’s major sponsor is Trident Marketing, who has been the presenting sponsor since the race began.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the smiling faces, costumes, kids and families making memories.” Said Petsolt. “But the moments that bring me a happy cry are at the start of each race. I stand in the street, near Santa, and watch hundreds of my friends run by cheering and smiling. It’s going to be amazing this year.”
